today my heart broke
my roller derby league, the wonderful central new york roller derby, has saved me in ways that no one will ever understand. they picked me up when i was down, literally and metaphorically, and this league has become my whole life. but today something awful happened, and we lost our practice space and everything in it in a fire.

we are a tough bunch and i know that we will bounce back from this, but it goes without saying that this has been a devastating blow to all of us. we lost all of our rental gear, our banners and bout production materials, practice supplies, medical supplies, custom helmet panties, our jam clock, at least one skater’s entire gear, and countless other things. i feel numb, i feel like i lost my best friend.
if you are a fan of roller derby, or tough girls, or sports in general, or me, please help in any way that you can. this is as simple as reblogging this, or donating a few dollars (or more! any amount will help us rebuild!), or donating used gear, or coming to our fundraiser on feb 18th at tony’s pizzeria in washington mills if you are in the central new york area.

we are so grateful for the donations and support we have gotten so far from leagues all over the country, local businesses, and friends. thank you all so much for your kind words and thoughts.
any small amount will help. please.
